The Blind Center in Washington received a $3,000 donation from IBM Corporation through the efforts of a former IBM employee, Carol Persche, who volunteers at the center. This donation makes a total of $10,000 received since Persche began volunteering in 2005. The money is used to purchase supplies for the center’s chair and stool seat weaving program. This year’s funding included a special project titled “Eat Your Science,” requiring The Blind Center clients to make ice cream by shaking the ingredients in a plastic bag contained in a second bag of ice and salt. Pictured (from left) are client Lucy Alligood, volunteer Carol Persche and client Minnie Corey.
