Mrs. Myrtle Mills Ipock, of Vanceboro, died peacefully at age 94 the morning of January 18, 2013, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, in Celestial Memorial Gardens.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Lee Ipock, who departed us in 1996. They were married for 59 years, and enjoyed life on their family farm in the Ernul community. Myrtle & Robert were both lifelong members of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church and participated in numerous church and community organizations.
Myrtle was the second of eight children, born to Fred and Mettie Mills on May 2, 1918. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Mills, Mildred Vendrix of Vanceboro and Lillian Anspach of Charlotte. Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Durham and Ethel Spivey of Michigan and two brothers, Fred Mills, Jr. of New Bern and Marvin Mills of Arapahoe.
Myrtle and Robert had three children, Eleanor Ruth Ipock of Washington, Thomas Weeks Ipock of New Bern and Freddie Robert Ipock (deceased).
Eleanor Ruth Hudson Keel presented three grandchildren, Edward Hudson, Jamie Lee Hudson and wife Susan and Michelle Riffert and husband John, with five great-grandchildren, Kristin Nicole Hudson of Jacksonville, Florida, Amber Marie Riffert, John Riffert III, Austin Lee Hudson and Sara Nicole Hudson, all of Washington.
Thomas Weeks Ipock and wife Teryl Laughinghouse Ipock presented another grandchild, Derrick Thomas Ipock and wife Carrie with one great-grandchild, Bayleigh Weeks Ipock, all of New Bern.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 -1:30 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
