Drug Unit makes illegal meds arrestPublished 9:14pm Friday, February 1, 2013
Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit made another trafficking arrest — this time for the schedule II controlled substance, Hydrocodone.
According to a representative from the drug unit, a series of controlled buys by the drug unit led to the arrest of Robert Alan Koonce, 35, of 185 Wren Drive, Washington. Koonce was charged with four counts of trafficking in opium. After a search of his residence, he was also charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“(Investigators) found seven used bags with heroin residue in them in his sock and the bathroom of the house where he was living,” said the spokesman.
Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid that comes from one of two naturally occurring opiates, codeine and thebaine.
Koonce was held at the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.
