ANCHORS AWAY: George Fields, representing the Little Washington Sailing School, is presented with a $1,000 donation, resulting from the proceeds of Washington Noon Rotary’s annual Smoke on the Water event, by club President Phil Holloman. The Little Washington Sailing School offers sailing classes to boys and girls 10 through18 years of age and weighing at least 70 pounds. In addition to teaching its students to sail; the school promotes self-reliance, awareness of safety, sportsmanship, teamwork, self-confidence and respect for others. This past summer, LWSS graduated more than 70 students. Classes will held throughout the summer, starting June 10 and continuing through Aug. 19. In addition to paid tuition, LWSS offers a limited number of scholarships available to those who qualify.
