Students Jump Rope for Heart

Published 11:37am Tuesday, March 5, 2013

On Feb. 8, fifth-graders at Chocowinity Middle School participated in Jump Rope for Heart.
Students who had collected donations were invited to participate in an hour-long event of jumping rope. The Woodmen of the World donated enough jump ropes for every participant to have their own rope.
Students did trick jumps, basic jumps and even had a double-dutch jump rope set to jump. Twenty-seven students participated, raising almost $750 for the American Heart Association, which uses its funds for education and research in the fight against heart disease. Kellyn Wright’s homeroom raised the most money, with Kayla Lilley coming in as the top fundraiser with $135.
With the help of physical education teachers Chris Hill, Donell Moore and Justin Lasher, the students were able to have healthy fun and raise money for a great cause.
