GREENVILLE -- The Skip Holtz soap opera continues.

On Sunday evening, Holtz refuted a report by the NFL Network that he was ready to accept the head coaching position vacated by Greg Robinson at Syracuse Univerisity.

In a broadcast report late Saturday, the NFL Network’s Michael Bradley reported that Holtz will be named the new head coach at Syracuse University on Monday.

Holtz called that report "inaccurate."

"Reports are inaccurate. Yes sir," the Pirates fourth-year head coach told several Charlotte televisions stations.

Holtz and Syracuse Athletic Director Darryl Gross are both expected to be in New York City on Monday for the College Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. Holtz’s father Lou, and former Syracuse quarterback Don McPherson will both be enshrined.

Holtz acknowledged that he will speak to Gross about the opening on either Monday or Tuesday, but called the meeting informal.

"I would like to have the opportunity to talk to Daryl Gross," Holtz said. "But at this point, no, I am not going through an interview process. I've made that very clear."

Holtz maintains that he and his family are happy in Greenville, but didn't rule out accepting a new position elsewhere if the situation were right.

"I never say never, but at the same time, it would have to be a really special situation to get me out of here,” Holtz said. "I know a lot of people think you have to have a BCS next to your school to make it rewarding. But for me right now, I'm in a very good situation (at East Carolina)."
